Cougars Overpower Quincy

         Jennifer Trame (Highland) hammered 14 kills and Kindra Westendorf (Effingham) added 12 as the Cougars ousted the Quincy Hawks 3-0 at the Vadalabene Center Saturday. It was the first Great Lakes Valley Conference match for the Cougars.
         SIU Edwardsville (11-3 overall, 1-0 GLVC) was virtually in control the entire match, winning the games by the scores of 30-26, 30-24 and 30-15.
         Allison Buss (Towanda) recorded 14 digs for the Cougars. Tricia Winter (Germantown) turned in an impressive match, recording eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
         Quincy, (6-5, 1-1) who defeated UMSL 3-2 Friday night, was led in kills by Amber Heimann with eight. Heimann, Nada Grbavac and Katie McGuire each had seven digs.
         As a team, SIUE hit .363 to Quincy's .088.
         SIUE will continue their current GLVC homestand Friday with a 7 p.m. match against Bellarmine at the Vadalabene Center. They will then take on Northern Kentucky Saturday in a 1 p.m. match.
