Christina Stremlau scored her first collegiate goal as SIUE shutout the Eagles of Ashland University 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Korte Stadium. SIUE improves to 2-0 while Ashland dips to 1-1.
         Following a scoreless first half, Stremlau scored off a Christen Carducci assist at 64:56 to give SIUE the 1-0 advantage. Sara Decker and Ann Crawford each added a goal and assist to give the Cougars the 3-0 victory.
         Ashland, who is not ranked but did recieve votes in the NSCAA pre-season poll, had scoring chances but were shutdown by a stingy Cougar backfield and goalkeeper Kristen Covalt, who made eight saves in the game. Ashland's Caitlyn Carducci, sister of SIUE's Christen Carducci, led Ashland with six shots.
         SIUE outshot the Eagles 20-19.
         SIUE will next be in action Friday when they travel to McKendree for a 4 p.m. start
