Cougars Overpower Knights

         Southern Illinois University Edwardsville used a quick attack to defeat Bellarmine 30-11, 30-17, 30-20 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
         Allison Buss led the Cougars with 22 digs and five service aces for the contest. Buss is second in the GLVC with 4.94 digs per game.
         Shannon Winkeler was solid for SIUE with nine kills on 24 attacks. Heather Bonde and Tina Talsman each had eight kills in the match. Kindra Westendorf finished with seven kills on ten attacks for .600 hitting percentage.
         SIUE improved to 14-5 overall, 5-1 in GLVC play, while Bellarmine fell to 2-9, 1-5 in the conference.
         The Cougars held the Knights to a -.035 hitting percentage as Bellarmine committed 21 errors in the match. As a team, SIUE hit .315 with 41 kills. The Cougars also accumulated eight service aces.
         The Cougars' next action is Friday at Lewis followed by a trip to Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.
