Cougars Outlast Lewis in Five Games

         ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Kindra Westendorf led all hitters with 23 kills as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville defeated Lewis University 30-25, 24-30, 22-30, 30-26, 15-12.
         SIUE, 15-5 overall and 6-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, totaled 80 kills in the five-game match and held off a balanced attack from Lewis, 10-8 overall and 3-5 in the GLVC.
         Heather Bonde blasted 19 kills for SIUE while Tina Talsma added 15 kills and seven blocks. Krystal Majernik posted a career-high 66 assists and added four service aces.
         SIUE came out strong against the Flyers on the road by hitting .341 in the opening game. The Cougars slumped in games two and three only to tie up the match in a close game four. The Cougars posted eight kills in game five to defeat the Flyers.
         Theresa Nugent led the offense for the Flyers with 18 kills.
