SIU Edwardsville's baseball coach Gary Collins recorded the 800th win of his career today in game two of a doubleheader against Lewis.
After suffering an 8-6 setback in game one of a doubleheader, SIU Edwardsville rallied for a 5-4 victory in game two. With runners on first and second and one out, Pickering scorched a liner over the left fielders head, driving in Brad Scott who had reached on a single.

In game one, Lewis (9-14, 3-5 GLVC) jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after scoring two runs in each of the first three innings. The Cougars (6-17, 3-7 GLVC) tried chipping away at the lead, but Lewis put up two more in the sixth inning to claim the victory in the seven-inning game.
Matt Tanton picked up the victory on the mound for Lewis. Jarad Rettberg was tagged with the loss for SIUE after going six and a third innings and allowing six earned runs on 12 hits.
After allowing a Lewis run in the third inning of game two, SIUE got on the board in the fourth. Jared Brueggeman and Tim Velten each drove in runs to give the Cougars its first lead of the day. Lewis scored once in the fifth on an RBI groundout to knot the game 2-2.
Both teams scored once in their halves of the seventh and eighth inning, then Pickering ended the game in the ninth.
Kyle Jones pitched seven strong innings for the Cougars, allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out seven. Pat Evers, who pitched two solid inning in relief of Jones, was credited with the victory.
Both teams will be back at it again Sunday at Roy Lee Field. The doubleheader begins at noon.
