         ROMEOVILLE, ILL. -- Heather Bonde and Tina Talsma combined for 28 kills as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville swept past Lewis 30-24, 30-21, 30-16 in college volleyball action on Friday.
         The Cougars improved to 15-5 overall and 5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. SIUE faces UW-Parkside in a 1 p.m. match in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday.
         Lewis dropped from second place in the GLVC and is now 11-6 overall and 4-2 in league play. Northern Kentucky and SIUE are tied for second behind first-place Rockhurst.
         On Friday, SIUE was tied 22-22 in game one and ran away from the Flyers. That set the tone for the rest of the match as the Cougars blanked the Flyers.
         Bonde, the GLVC's Player of the Week, led SIUE with 16 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Talsma followed with 12 kills and a .423 hitting percentage.
         The Cougars managed eight service aces led by three from Mallory Clements and two each from Bonde and Kate Hofeldt.
         Theresa Nugent led the offense for Lewis with 11 kills.
