Cougars Win 16th Straight; Move On to GLVC Semis

         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Seniors are what make the difference in the postseason, and that is exactly who led the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball team to victory Thursday.
         Heather Bonde's 16 kills led the Cougars to their 16th consecutive win, defeating Drury 30-28, 30-22, 30-17 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference quarterfinals.
         Second-seeded SIUE will now face No. 3 seed Northern Kentucky in the GLVC Tournament semifinals Friday at 5 p.m. The Norse defeated Lewis 3-1 to setup the contest with the Cougars.
         The Cougars improve to 25-5 overall as SIUE head coach Todd Gober hits the 25-win mark for the third straight season.
         Bonde held a .467 hitting percentage in the match. Fellow seniors Tina Talsma and Kindra Westendorf had solid matches. Talsma recorded 15 kills while hitting .438, and Westendorf notched 12 kills with a .500 hitting percentage.
         The Cougars hit .271 for the match as they held the Panthers to .089 in the contest.
         SIUE had four players recorded double-figures in digs. Allison Buss had 18, Jenny Heimann finished with 15, and Kate Hofeldt had 12.
         Senior Krystal Majernik recorded 13 digs to go along with 52 assists for SIUE.
         Megan Warhol led Drury with 11 kills and Maggie Thompson had 20 digs.
