Cougars Place 18th at NCAA Regionals

          BIG RAPIDS, MICH. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Brian Taghon is heading to NCAA Men's Cross Country Championships in Pomona, Calif., on Nov. 19.
          Taghon placed second in the Great Lakes Region 10,000 meter race with a time of 31 minutes, 40 seconds. That gives him the his second fastest time in school history at 10,000 meters. The mark was just one second faster than his race in the 2003 Great Lakes Regional.
          Taghon has finished in the top five of every event he has competed in this year.
          SIUE placed sixth with 206 points, as Grand Valley State won the event with a score of 43.
          Justin Crain came in 41st with a time of 33:28.10 and Erik Steffens placed 50th with a time of 33:41.10.
          Josh Bozue placed 53rd in a time of 33:53.40 and Marty Copeland had a time of 34:02.70.
