        O'FALLON, MO. - Northern Kentucky evened the four-game series with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, defeating the baseball Cougars 12-1 and 5-0 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.
        The Cougars fall to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Northern Kentucky made it back to the .500 mark overall at 7-7 and in the GLVC at 2-2.
        NKU's Kory Lonergan went 5 for 5 in game one to lift the Norse. He started a four-run rally in the first inning and contributed two hits in the Norse's seven-run fourth inning.
        SIUE starter Adam Tallman allowed seven runs on eight hits in three-plus innings of work.
        In the nightcap, three NKU pitchers combined on a six-hit shutout. Rick Wood picked up the win for the Norse. SIUE stranded 10 runners.
        The Cougars return to action on Saturday and Sunday in Romeoville to face off with Lewis. Game time both days is noon.
