EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will be the number two seed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament next week despite dropping two games to UW-Parkside 3-2 and 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
         The 14th-ranked Cougars take on seventh-seeded Quincy next Friday at 11 a.m. at the EastSide Center in Peoria, Ill.
         SIUE finished the regular season with record of 39-11 overall and 15-3 in conference play. The Rangers improve to 29-21 overall and 13-7 in the GLVC.
         Trailing UW-Parkside 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one, the Cougars would rally to tie the game as Libby Lenart came up with a two out RBI single to drive in Shanna Waldo.
         The Rangers bounced back after a triple by Jamie Bliemeister in the top of the eighth, Allison Wodziak would single to give UW-Parkside the lead and the win.
         Ashley Price went 2-3, and Alicia DeShasier took the loss pitching eight innings giving up three runs on nine hits.
         The Ranger's Meagan Shimkus threw a one-hit shutout in the night cap picking up the victory for UW-Parkside.
         Lindsey Laas threw seven innings giving up one run on six hits as she falls to 17-5 on the season.
