Buss Digs New Record, Cougars Split

         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Allison Buss became the all-time digs leader in Southern Illinois University Edwardsville history as the Cougars defeated Missouri Southern, but fell to second-ranked Truman State on Saturday.
         Buss recorded 32 digs in the two contests giving her 1434 for her career passing Kim Gilman (1996-99), who had 1416 digs.
         SIUE is now 7-2 on the season after finishing the Cougar Classic with a 3-1 mark.
         The Cougars opened up the day defeating the Lions 30-25, 30-21, and 30-20. SIUE recorded a .298 hitting percentage against MSSU, while holding them to just .114.
         Heather Bonde led SIUE with 15 kills and a .433 hitting percentage. Jamie Jones and Mallory Clements each had eight kills in the contest.
         Clements and senior Krystal Majernik combinded for 43 assists and 16 digs in the match.
         In the night cap the Cougars fell to the Bulldogs 30-25, 30-25, and 30-22.
         Kim Potthast led SIUE with nine kills while Bonde and Tina Talsma posted eight.
         SIUE could only muster a .150 hitting percentage as Truman State hit .246. Kelsey Wackerman and Micaela Walter led the Bulldogs with 11 kills.
         The Cougars outblocked Truman State 12-6 in the contest.
         SIUE will be back in action next Thursday as they travel to Warrensburg, Mo. for the Central Missouri State Tournament.
