Cougars Overpower UW-Parkside

         Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball hit the magic number 20 once again.
         For the sixth straight season, Coach Todd Gober and his Cougars have won 20 matches in a season. The latest victim was UW-Parkside Friday night at the Vadalabene Center 30-16, 30-16, 28-30, 30-14.
         SIUE, ranked No. 17 in the AVCA/NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, improved its record to 20-4 overall and 11-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Next up for the Cougars is a pivotal match Saturday against Lewis, which defeated Southern Indiana in five games to improve its record to 11-1 in GLVC play and 17-4 overall. Match time is 2 p.m. at the Vadalabene Center.
         On Friday, SIUE outmatched UW-Parkside, sweeping the first two games easily against the 6-15 Rangers.
         Gober mixed up his lineup in game three. UW-Parkside sneaked a game victory with 15 kills in the game, a match high.
         SIUE didn't need its powerful offense as UW-Parkside recorded 36 attack errors and 10 service errors.
         Mallory Clements was the most consistent of the Cougar hitters. The SIUE setter had nine kills on 18 attacks without a hitting error. She missed her fifth triple-double of the season by one kill, adding 34 assists and 12 digs.
         Tricia Happe led SIUE with 10 kills. Kate Hofeldt added nine.
         SIUE finished with 48 kills and 13 blocks, including five from Hofeldt.
