SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- After claiming the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Great Lakes Valley Conference Friday, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball team extended its winning streak to seven matches Saturday with a four-set victory over Drury.
         No. 17-ranked SIUE, 24-4 overall and 15-0 in the GLVC, defeated Drury 30-22, 29-31, 30-12, 33-31. It was the 29th consecutive GLVC regular-season win for the Cougars.
         The Cougars will close out the regular season next Friday against Kentucky Wesleyan at the Vadalabene Center. It will be Senior Day for SIUE.
         SIUE and Drury were even after two games, but the Cougars too control in game three. Drury hit -.114 with seven kills and 12 attack errors. SIUE had the opposite numbers with 16 kills and just two attack errors.
         The Cougars put away Drury in game four 33-31 despite Drury having to opportunities to serve for the game.
         Kim Potthast played another outstanding match with 17 kills and a .438 hitting percentage. Jamie Jones, Emily Rahn, Kate Hofeldt, and Kelsey Hubert all had double-digit kill totals.
         Courtney Hendrickson powered the Drury attack with a match-high 18 kills.
         Drury was held to .094 hitting percentage while SIUE finished at .278. The Cougars also were strong on defense with 16 blocks, including 10 from Jones.
