HIGHLAND HTS., Ky. - After falling in the first two games, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball roared back to a five-set victory at Northern Kentucky.
         SIUE defeated NKU 35-37, 27-30, 30-23, 30-26, 15-8. The Cougars, ranked No. 19 in the nation in the AVCA/NCAA Division II coaches poll, remained undefeated in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Cougars are now 18-4 overall and 9-0 in the GLVC.
         Northern Kentucky fell to 12-10 and 6-4 in the GLVC.
         SIUE's Kim Potthast turned in her strongest effort of the season with 21 kills and just one error, hitting .541 for the match. Middle hitter Kelsey Hubert nearly matched Potthast with 18 kills on two errors.
         The Cougars came up big in games four and five. SIUE posted a .459 hitting percentage in game four and .538 in game five. SIUE committed 20 attack errors in the game with the final two coming in the last two games.
         Northern Kentucky recorded 80 kills led by Kristina Eisenmenger with 23. NKU's defense kept SIUE on its toes as the Norse collected 83 digs.
         Setter Mallory Clements powered SIUE with seven kills and five service aces to go along with her 52 assists.
         SIUE now heads to Bellarmine for an afternoon match Saturday in Louisville, Ky.
