EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball marched into the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament finals Friday with a 30-21, 22-30, 30-21, 30-23 triumph over Indianapolis.
         The No. 13-ranked Cougars will face off against third-seeded Lewis, which defeated Rockhurst in a five-set thriller. Game time for the GLVC Championship match between SIUE and Lewis is 2 p.m. Saturday at the Vadalabene Center.
         SIUE and Indianapolis split games one and two, but the Cougars stepped up their attack by hitting .325 in game three and .310 in game four.
         Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year Kim Potthast led all players with 17 kills. Her .448 hitting percentage also led the Cougars.
         SIUE setter Mallory Clements claimed her sixth triple-double of the season with 11 kills, 53 assists and 15 digs. The sophomore from Mt. Pulaski also recorded a game-high six service aces.
         Kelsey Hubert, also a first team All-GLVC selection, downed 16 kills. Kate Hofeldt added 10 on the outside.
         Lynne Ross was the lone player for Indianapolis in double figures in kills with 15.
         SIUE made it difficult for Indianapolis to terminate with its 73 assists and 11 blocks. Ruth Shurts collected six blocks while Hofeldt added five.
         SIUE's string of wins against GLVC teams improved to 34 with the win. SIUE will try to complete the back-to-back GLVC titles Saturday.
