        EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Adam Tallman allowed two hits over five innings and Cameron Cheek threw four strong innings as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville defeated Missouri Southern State 4-2 Saturday at SimmonsCooper Complex.
        The Cougars won their first two games of the season for the first time since 1997 when they also swept Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo.
        The Cougars and the Lions play once more Sunday with an 11 a.m. first pitch.
        SIUE handed Missouri Southern its fifth straight loss as it managed 10 hits. Cory Bunner singled home a run in the third inning and added a scraifice fly in the three-run fourth inning.
        Tallman bested Missouri Southern starter Lucas Vestal. Tallman allowed an unearned run after two infield errors and a balk. Cheek checked in during the sixth inning and collected a save.
