         EDWARDSVILLE - Alicia DeShasier celebrated her birthday with a game-winning RBI single in the night cap of a doubleheader as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville softball team swept two games from UW-Parkside Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
         SIUE won the first game 7-0, before a 2-1 victory in the second game. The Cougars improve to 37-5 overall and 13-1 in the conference. The Rangers drop to 18-20 overall and 8-10 in the league.
         With the game tied at 1-1 and two out in the bottom of the seventh inning, DeShasier drove home Jodie Ohlau from second base with a single up the middle.
         UW-Parkside gained a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning on sacrafice fly by Katrina Homa. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Kaleigh Rousey delivered a game-tying home run over the left field fence.
         Rousey went 3-5 on the day with two runs scored.
         Kaitlin Colosimo pitched two innings in relief, giving up one hit to improve her record to 12-0 on the year. Lindsey Laas made the start allowing one run on two hits.
         In the first game, the Cougars made it 1-0 in the first inning on RBI single by Deshasier. SIUE added four more runs in the second inning on a RBI triple by Amy Rogers, a two-run double by Holly Neuerberg, and a RBI single by Libby Lenart.
         SIUE added two more runs in the third inning on RBI singles by Emily Lenart and Jodie Ohlau.
         Sabra McCune allowed just one hit against the Rangers as she went to 20-4 on the season. McCune tallied 10 stirkouts for her fifth shutout of the year.
         Rogers went 4-6 in the two games. Shanna Waldo went 2-3 on the day with a pair of runs scored, drawing three walks in the second game. Waldo becomes the all-time leader in base on balls with 98 in her career. She passed Erin Newman (1999-2002), who had 96 walks in her career.
         The Cougars will be back in action Monday for a doubleheader against Lincoln. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
