Cougars Take Out Lewis 1-0

         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Sabra McCune tossed a five-hit shutout as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville blanked Lewis 1-0 in the consolation braket of the NCAA Tournament at Cougar Field Friday.
         McCune threw a complete game to improve to 28-7 on the year. McCune gave up five hits while striking out four in the contest.
         The Cougars, now 47-9, defeated the Flyers for the fifth time this season with four of those contests being decided by one run. Lewis ends its season with a 39-15 record.
         The top-seeded Cougars will face the No. 7 seed West Virginia Wesleyan tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in a elimination game. That game can be heard live on SIUE's Webradio at http://www.siue.edu/ATHLETIC.
         The Cougars scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning on a RBI double by shortstop Kaeleigh Rousey that scored Alicia DeShasier.
         Lewis put runners on in both the sixth and seventh innnings, but were unable to push a run across against McCune.
         Julie Wingerter took the loss for the Flyers as she fell to 14-7 on the year. Wingerter went five and one-third innings giving up one run on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Wingerter was relieved by Courtney Lyons in the sixth inning, as Lyons allowed just one hit and a pair of walks.
         The two teams combinded to leave 13 runs on base in the contest.
         Amy Rogers, Jodie Ohlau, and McCune all tallied hits in the game.
         Robin Martz went 2-3, Shannon Roney and Beth Shelus added hits for the Flyers.
