CMSU Outlasts Cougars in Five Games

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville rallied from two games down but fell in game five to No. 10-ranked Central Missouri State Tuesday in college volleyball action.
         The Cougars, 4-1, were defeated by the Jennies 30-28, 30-25, 28-30, 18-30, 15-13. SIUE's defense broke the school record for digs in a match with 132. Beth DeGreeff led the Cougars in digs with 28 while setter and Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week Mallorty Clements added 25 digs to her 60 assists.
         Jillian Ohrman powered Central Missouri State with 20 kills. CMSU libero Katie Tarka turned in a game-high 31 digs.
         SIUE's offense couldn't get on track in the first two games. After a lineup switch in game two, Ruth Shurts entered the game and picked up 13 kills with just one error. SIUE pulled off a two-point win in game three and then dominated game four.
         Central Missouri picked up 13 kills from Brooke Butler and 12 more from Andrea Robertson as the Jennies outlasted the Cougars.
         SIUE's Kate Hofeldt matched Ohrman with a career-high 20 kills. SIUE posted 81 kills in the match with 14 each from Emily Rahn and Kim Potthast.
         SIUE is now idle until Friday when it travels to the Ashland (Ohio) Tournament.
