Lewis Comes From Behind to Defeat Cougars

         INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville watched its two-game lead evaporate Saturday in a five-set loss to Lewis at the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
         SIUE, 26-6, will now wait until the official announcement Monday morning as to its seed for the 64-team NCAA Division II Tournament. SIUE was the No. 3-ranked team in the region and the No. 10-ranked team in the nation before Saturday's loss. Lewis is ranked No. 4 in the region and No. 23 nationally.
         Everything seemed to be going well for the Cougars early as SIUE took games one and two 30-28 and 30-24. Kelsey Hubert led SIUE again Saturday in kills with 16. Sydney Winslow and Samantha Schulte followed with 15 each.
         The Cougars and the Flyers each had trouble with attack errors, both turning in 33 for the match. The edge, however came in the serving as Lewis, now 29-3, posted 13 service aces against the Cougars. SIUE, which has fell to a nationally-ranked opponent in all six of its losses this season, managed just three service aces.
         Lewis roared back with wins in game three and four 30-22 and 30-24. With game five tied 14-14, Lewis grabbed the final two points of the match as Lewis setter Andrea Morrone blocked an attack by Kate Hofeldt for match point.
         Stephanie Sagat led the Lewis attack with 22 kills. Lewis heads into the championship match to face the winner of Rockhurst and Indianapolis.
