Wayne State Tops Cougars 84-74

         DETROIT, Mich. - Wayne State outscored Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 23-3 over the final eight minutes for a 84-74 victory Saturday in men's college basketball action.
         SIUE, now 1-1, watched a 10-point, second-half lead evaporate as it shot 1 of 11 from the field to close out the game. T.J. Gray, who led SIUE with 20 points and six three-pointers, hit a three-pointer with 31 seconds left to account for the made shot.
         The Cougars were ahead 43-35 at halftime behind four three-pointers from Gray. SIUE posted a 9-0 run midway through the first half to create the lead.
         Wayne State's Sarden Wynn posted 20 points and 20 rebounds. Teammate Jason Saddler also recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Warriors, 2-0, took advantage of 23 SIUE turnovers and scroed 32 points off those turnovers.
         SIUE's John Edmison led SIUE off the bench with 17 points before fouling out in the final minute of the game. As a team, the Cougars committed 28 fouls to Wayne State's 10.
         Leonard Parker added five points and 10 assists for the Cougars.
         SIUE returns home to the Vadalabene Center for a 7:30 p.m. game Tuesday against Robert Morris.
