Cougars Split at Quincy

        QUINCY, ILL. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Quincy battled to a doubleheader split Wednesday at QU Stadium.
        Quincy won the opener 2-1 while SIUE took the nightcap 3-1. SIUE is now 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
        The Hawks used a sacrifice fly and an SIUE error by Cory Bunner in the bottom of the sixth to edge SIUE in game one. Zach Everist suffered the loss for SIUE. Zach Stead provided the lone RBI in the fourth inning for the Cougars.
        In game two, five pitchers combined for a 3-1 victory. Gerad Bryan was the winner after going 5 2/3 innings. SIUE took a 2-0 lead in the sixth when Jim Grant recorded a scarifice fly and Daniel Thomson scored on a passed ball.
        Adam Schneider earned the save with a full inning of pitching in the ninth.
