Cougars Roll Over Quincy

         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- After a 10-day layoff because of the weather, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Coach Sandy Montgomery wanted to see her team get back to being the No. 7-ranked team in all of NCAA Division II.
         The Cougars came through with a 5-1, 10-2 sweep over Quincy Saturday at Cougar Field. The second game was four innings, shortened by the eight-run slaughter rule.
         SIUE improved to 19-4 overall and 3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Quincy dropped to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in the league.
         In game one, Sabra McCune struck out three over seven innings and scattered six hits. The Cougars picked up RBIs from Jodie Ohlau, Ashley Price, Libby Lenart and Kaleigh Rousey in the game. SIUE rallied for four runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
         Sarah Ormond took the loss for Quincy.
         SIUE's bats came alive in game two.
         Ohlau and Rousey each drove home three runs. Ohlau did it with a third-inning, two-run homer that just cleared the fence and the foul pole in left field.
         SIUE opened the game with a seven-run inning off Quincy starter Korby Paul.
         Kaitlin Colosimo pitched four hitless innings for the win. Lindsey Laas came in the game in the fifth to preserve the victory.
         The Cougars return to Cougar Field Sunday for a noon doubleheader against GLVC rival Missouri-St. Louis.
