EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's cross country
team placed second at the Bradley Invitational over the
weekend.
Leading the
way with their individual efforts were Kayla Brown (Petersburg) and
Maggie Krall (Bloomington). Brown finished in second place with a
time of 18:36, which is tied for the 17th fastest 5,000-meter time
in school history. Krall finished eighth, with a time of 20:06.
Other top
finishers for the Cougars were Kelley Flounders (Homer Glen), who
place 15th and Stacey Briggs (Argenta) who finished 16th.
Although the
Cougars are still battling minor off-season and preseason injuries,
coach David Astrauskas is optimistic.
"We still
have some injuries. Once we heal we should have more athletes
competing in meets," he said.
The Cougars
run next in the Eastern Illinois Panther Open at Charleston on
Friday at 5 p.m.
