NKU Hands SIUE First GLVC Loss

         HIGHLAND HTS., KY. -- It has been two years since Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball has lost a Great Lakes Valley Conference match during the regular season.
         SIUE's streak of 37 consecutive regular season GLVC matches ended Friday as Northern Kentucky defeated SIUE in four games 30-18, 20-30, 30-25, 30-21.
         It was a battle of top 25 teams with No. 24 NKU defeating No. 12 SIUE. All four of SIUE's losses this season have come from teams in the top 25. SIUE, 14-4 and 7-1 in the GLVC, will face 23rd-ranked Indianapolis Saturday in a 3 p.m. Eastern time match in Indianapolis.
         NKU's Liz Holmes led all hitters with 23 kills. Kristina Eisenmenger added 15 for the Norse.
         SIUE used a more balanced attack with 12 kills from setter Mallory Clements and Emily Rahn and 11 each from Sydney Winslow and Kate Hofeldt.
         SIUE's last GLVC loss during the regular season was Sept. 17, 2005, at Drury.
