SIUE Topples Eastern Kentucky

         RICHMOND, Ky. - Sydney Winslow collected 15 kills, five service aces and two blocks Friday night as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville swept past Eastern Kentucky 25-16, 25-23, 25-19 over Eastern Kentucky.
         "Sydney played a complete match," said SIUE Coach Todd Gober. "She was dominating tonight."
         The Cougars, now 6-8, were consistent throughout the match at McBrayer Arena and hit .236 against the Colonels in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
         SIUE now returns to Edwardsville to play its first home match of the season against the Air Force Academy. Due to construction at the Vadalabene Center, the match has been moved to Edwardsville Lincoln Middle School. Game time is 7 p.m.
         On Friday, Winslow hit .500 for the match with just three errors in 24 attacks. The right-side hitter also added three assists.
         SIUE setter Mallory Clements finished with 36 assists in the three-set match. Emily Rahn added eight kills.
         Gober said he credited the schedule the Cougars have faced so far with SIUE's road win. The defense picked up the Cougars.
         "A big factor was that our serve receive was on target tonight," said Gober. SIUE's attack managed 48 kills.
         The Cougars took advantage of their 11 service aces and held the edge on defense with a 59 digs to the Colonels' 50.
         Lindsey Loescher led Eastern Kentucky with 12 kills. EKU hit .153 for the match.
