CHICAGO, Ill. - Loyola scored the game's lone goal with 20 minutes left in the game as it defeated Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 1-0 Friday night in women's college soccer.
           Cynthia Morote-Ariza scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway from 20 yards out past SIUE goalkeeper Claire Lovercheck at 70:40.
           Loyola, which improved to 9-7, held the shot lead 13-7 overall the Cougars. SIUE outshot the Ramblers 5-3 in the first half but were shut out in the second half.
           Michele Martin and Elizabeth Valenti each were credited with two shots for the Cougars. Morote-Ariza led all players with three shots.
           Katie Groesch collected the shutout for Loyola and finished with three saves. Kaci Backs had one save with goalkeeping duties in the first half. Lovercheck was busier with five saves in the final 45 minutes in goal for the Cougars.
           SIUE, 5-5 overall, now heads to Valparaiso for a Sunday matchup at 1 p.m.
