Cougars Go Four with Illinois State

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Mallory Clements hit .636 with a team-high 14 kills but Southern Illinois University Edwardsville couldn't hold off Illinois State Saturday night at the Vadalabene Center.
         In the first event at the newly-renovated Vadalabene Center, Illinois State volleyball defeated SIUE 25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16.
         Clements often threw a wrench in Illinois State's attack. The Cougar setter recorded a triple double, the 18th of her collegiate career with 14 kills, 30 assists and 10 digs.
         SIUE, now 7-10, finished with 48 kills for the match and a respectable .214 hitting percentage. Emily Rahn added 10 kills for SIUE. The Cougars are now hitting .200 for the season.
         Illinois State, 11-10 overall, went on early and often scoring runs in taking the first two sets.
         "We are still looking for confidence against a point run," said SIUE Coach Todd Gober.
         The Redbirds picked up 20 kills from Mallory Leggett and 16 from MC Richmond. Illinois State finished with 64 kills for the match.
         SIUE now heads to Southeast Missouri State Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match at Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Cougars are currently 2-1 this season against Ohio Valley Conference opponents.
