         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville improved its record to 10-11 Friday with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-21 victory over Chicago State.
         SIUE coach Todd Gober was able to use all 14 of his players in the match. Ten different players recorded kills. Chicago State dropped its record to 0-27.
         "We were able to get some experience for our young players," said Gober. "It was a nice chance to see what our team could do on defense."
         SIUE's Samantha Schulte and Noelle Franke led all players with seven kills each. Schulte hit .636 and did not have an attack error.
         The Cougars collected eight service aces, including three from setter Mallory Clements. The senior from Mt. Pulaski also hit .625 and finished with six kills.
         Mazvita Maziveyi, Hanya Minta and Jean Keenan each recorded five kills for Chicago State, which hit just .049 for the match.
         SIUE looks to improve to .500 Saturday in a 4 p.m. match at the Vadalabene Center against Eastern Illinois. The Panthers are a future Ohio Valley Conference opponent.
