Indiana State Nips Cougars

         TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville poured on the offense with the Sycamores edging the Cougars 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24 Tuesday night.
         SIUE, now 5-8, finished with more kills (62-59) and digs (62-61) than its opponents.
         Indiana State, 7-11, won the first two sets by a total of five points and needed some extra time to topple the Cougars in the fourth set.
         SIUE Coach Todd Gober said he was disappointed.
         "I think they had a little more killer instinct than use tonight," said Gober.
         SIUE's Sydney Winslow led all players with 23 kills. Mallory Clements and Samantha Schulte added kills each for the Cougars. The Cougars hit .253 for the match.
         The Sycamores hit .293 behind a threesome of Jodilynn Stoker, who had 16 kills, as well as Kelli Whitaker and Stacy Qualizza with 15 kills each.
         The Cougars will now return to Edwardsville for its first home contest. Since the makeover at the Vadalabene Center is not yet complete Saturday's 7 p.m. match against Air Force will be moved to Lincoln Middle School.
