SIUE Splits Matches at National Transitions Tournament

         SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville split on day one of the National Transitions Tournament.
         SIUE dropped a four-set match to South Dakota 25-22, 25-14, 17-25, 27-25 and then defeated host Bryant 25-17, 26-28, 25-13, 25-23. The tournament features the six schools in year one of reclassification to NCAA Division I status. The Cougars will play either Houston Baptist, Seattle or North Dakota on Saturday.
         Sydney Winslow collected 18 kills in each match Friday. The sophomore right-side hitter hit .424 against South Dakota and .410 against Bryant.
         SIUE setter Mallory Clements earned her fourth triple-double of the season in the Bryant match. The Mt. Pulaski senior recorded 12 kills without an attack error as well as 41 assists and 13 digs.
