EVANSVILLE, IND. - Evansville won three straight sets after losing the first set and took a 22-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-16 over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in college volleyball Wednesday night.
SIUE, 2-4, won the final three points of the first set and took an early lead at the Carson Center. Evansville, 4-5, recovered and nipped the Cougars 27-25 in set two only to take the final two sets.
Mallory Clements led SIUE with the 17th triple double of her collegiate career. She finished the match with 10 kills, 36 assists and 11 digs. Samantha Schulte was the SIUE leader in kills with 11 followed by 10 from Clements and Sydney Winslow.
Evansville hit .256 as a team against the Cougars with 14 kills from Sally Kulupka and 12 from Emily Wandersee.
SIUE is now idle for nine days until it travels to Illinois to take on the Fighting Illini on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
