PEORIA, Ill. - Marc Amarillas led the SIUE cross country team in its final meet of the 2009 cross country season.

Amarillas ran the 8,000-meter course at Newman Golf Course in a time of 26 minutes, 24 seconds. He placed 49th overall in a field of 158 runners.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville finished 12th with a team score of 362, besting Creighton, Valparaiso, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Chicago State in the 16-team race. The University of Windsor was the champion with a score of 40, topping Iowa State.

Other finishers for SIUE were Steven Werths (27:26), Sean Gosewisch (27:31), Aaron Werths (27:51), Brad Walwer (28:03), and Jesse Holliger (28:16).
