MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State held Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to just 22 kills Friday night in a three-set victory over the Cougars.

Morehead State, 17-7, defeated the volleyball Cougars 25-17, 25-14, 25-21.

SIUE will look to turn around its fortunes Saturday in a 2 p.m. ET match up Eastern Kentucky.

On Friday, The Cougars, 1-21, picked up five kills each from Jessica Hemann and Sydney Winslow. SIUE posted a .039 hitting percentage for the match.

Morehead State was led by Ellie Roberson with nine kills and four blocks. Emma Keough added eight kills and four blocks.

"They were a disciplined team that didn't make any errors," said SIUE Coach Todd Gober.

The Cougars held tough early with a 14-14 tie in the first set. The Eagles, which finished with seven service aces, made an 11-3 run behind strong serving from Lindsey Ruddell and Keough.

"I thought we matched up with them well, but we struggled with consistency at the start of the match. That's been our Achilles Heel," said Gober.

SIUE went point-for-point with the Eagles again in the third set. Hemann sparked the Cougars with three kills and a stuff block during the opening rotation, but SIUE wasn't able to get a hot server to thwart the Morehead State defense.
