SEMO Rallies Past Cougars

         CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State rallied for six runs, including a grand slam, in the eighth inning and topped Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 9-5 Friday night at Capaha Field.
         SIUE dropped the first of a four-game series. The two teams will play a Saturday doubleheader and a single game Sunday.
         The Cougars looked to be in control behind starting pitcher Dustin Quattrocchi. The Cougar left-hander struck out six over the first seven innings and did not give up an earned run.
         SIUE's bullpen could not hold off SEMO. Blaise Haxel and Brian Lorenz each gave up three runs before Aren Cummings came in to get the final three outs in the eighth.
         Brett Keeler put SIUE up early with a three-run homer in the second inning. SEMO, 20-14, countered with three runs of its own in the second. The Cougars regained the lead in the fifth with RBI from Dustin Brooks and Michael Hopkins.
         SEMO's rally in the eighth was highlighted by a grand slam by left-fielder Justin Wheeler.
