         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Kaitlin Colosimo earned win No. 16 of the season as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville softball split with Western Illinois at Cougar Field.
         The Cougars moved to 35-10 for the season and have one more game this week. The Cougars play host to Bradley at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
         Western Illinois, 22-17, picked up a 4-0 victory in the opener. SIUE won the nightcap 4-1.
         Colosimo struck out eight and gave up just four hits to the Westerwinds in the nightcap.
         SIUE's offense came alive in the second inning, all with two outs. Paige Sheeder singled and scored on a double to right center by Christina Signore. After Chaleen Rumpf reached on an infield error, Courtney Mall drove home both Signore and Rumpf.
         Lauren Zembruski added her seventh home run of the season in the third inning, a no-doubt blast to left field. That immediately sent Western Illinois starter Courtney Jacobson to the dugout in favor of Lori Pankratz.
         In the opener, Western Illinois left fielder Ashley Campbell connected on a grand slam to straight center field off SIUE starter Erika Taylor in the third inning.
         SIUE picked up just two hits off WIU starter Kamren Ferguson. She struck out six and improved to 13-7.
