Cougars Take Series From Morehead State

         MOREHEAD, KY.-Southern Illinois University Edwardsville completed a three-game sweep of Morehead State University with a 10-8 win Sunday afternoon at Allen Field. SIUE scored eight runs in the seventh and eighth innings to come from behind for the second day in a row. The three-game sweep is the first of the year for the Cougars.
         The Cougars improve to 14-32 with the win. MSU drops to 16-29.
         Christian Rohlfing drove in a pair of runs in the seventh with a single and Mitch Matecki added an RBI on a groundout. Zach Hawkins and Brent Rynearson each drove in single runs with hits in the eighth. Dustin Brooks tied the game with a pinch-hit ground out to drive in a run. Chase Thrasher capped the scoring with a two-run home run to put the Cougars up for good.
         SIUE managed just two runs over the first six innings Sunday. Josh Street hit a two-run home run in the fourth to break up a no-hitter by Eagles' starter Jeff Arnold. The homer cut the MSU lead to 3-2. Street finished the game 2-5 and finished the three-game series 8-12 (.670) with two home runs, four RBIs, two walks and five runs scored.
         Dustin Quattrocchi earned the win in relief. He allowed a run over 1 1/3 innings. He improves to 2-5. Aren Cummings earned his first save of the year with two scoreless innings.
         The Cougars will take on Saint Louis Wednesday night at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill. Game time is 7:05 pm.
