SLU Nips Cougars in 10

         SAUGET, Ill. - Saint Louis tied the game in the ninth and won it in the 10th for a 4-3 victory over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at GCS Ballpark.
         The River City Bash was the fourth and final baseball game of the four-game season series between the Cougars and the Billikens. SIUE, 14-33, and SLU, 29-24, split the four games.
         SIUE will now head to Normal for a three-game series against in-state rivals Illinois State beginning Friday. Game time is 6 p.m. Fans can hear the game live on WSIE 88.7 FM.
         The Cougars led most of Wednesday's game after Michael Hurt singled home a run in the second and Josh Street doubled home two runs in the third inning.
         SIUE would leave 10 runners on base, including three in the ninth inning. SLU left nine on base but took advantage of the Cougars late.
         Josh Hoguet started for the Cougars and went 6 1/3 innings without a decision. He was in line for the victory until SLU's Cody Cotter doubled home Lucas Calderon to tie the game 3-3 in the ninth inning.
         SLU gained a break in the 10th when Tom Pinnell reached on an infield error by Hurt. The throw was high, pulling SIUE first baseman Zach Hawkins off the bag. Andrew Beatty, who got the Cougars out of trouble in the ninth, walked Andrew Guerra. Calderon then sent a floating liner to left-center, scoring Pinnell for the win.
         Chaz Salembier was the winning pitcher, the fifth hurler of the night for the Billikens. He is now 3-3.
