EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - IUPU-Ft. Wayne scored twice in the second half in a 2-1 comeback victory over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's soccer at Korte Stadium.
The Cougars fell to 0-7 with the loss while IPFW improved to 1-5-1.
SIUE dominated the Mastodons in shots with a 21-8, but IPFW took advantage of its opportunities.
"I thought we did really, really well in the first half. We came out and played the way we wanted and dominated. The second half we didn't. We just didn't have the jump and the composure that we had in the first half," said SIUE Coach Derek Burton
The Cougars opened the scoring at 22:09 when Correen Roark scored her first goal of the season. She punched the ball in from eight yards out off a free kick from Jenny Humphrey.
SIUE had the lead until IPFW tied it up at 62:02. Lisa Underwood took the ball at midfield and distributed it to the right wing where Brittni Roy scored from eight yards out.
Tara O'Toole picked up the eventual game-winner at 77:20 when she dribbled up the left side, drove into the box and then scored from five yards out.
The Cougars provided plenty of offensive opportunities with three shots each from Rachel Brcic, Sade Akpore, Kiara Akpore and Correen Roark.
Kristen McFadden grabbed 13 saves on a barrage of shots from the Cougars. SIUE's Claire Lovercheck collected five saves.
