Young Cougars Improve at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill.- The SIUE women's cross country team competed at the Bradley Classic Friday finishing in 17th place.

Junior Aftan Noon, the sole upperclassman on the roster, led the Cougars with a time of 23:24 to finish 86th of 184 runners in the 6,000-meter race.

Six other runners, all freshmen, competed hard according to SIUE Head Coach Eileen McAllister.

"All the freshmen women continue to show great poise," McAllister said. "This was their first ever 6k and a very large and competitive field.

Emily Conlon and Renee Goodenough each had times that landed them among the best freshman performances in school history. Conlon's 23:32 was eighth-best all-time among freshmen. Goodenough's time of 24:01 places her ninth on the all-time freshman list. Claire Brown missed the freshman list by just two seconds with her time of 24:08.

Hannah Lee finished with a time of 24:47. Megan Petty turned in a time of 26:00. Dede Lofton finished at 28:06.

The Cougars are back in action when they host the SIUE CC Open Friday beginning at 4:45 p.m.
