CONWAY, Ark. - SIUE's baseball season certainly got off to a great start when Adam Eggemeyer homered to open the 2010 season.

Central Arkansas, however, shook it off and rallied past the Cougars 14-8 in both teams' season opener Friday.

The Bears recorded 17 hits with four each from Bobby Pritchett and Ethan Harris. The Bears rolled up eight runs in the first three innings off SIUE starter Josh Malin.

The Cougars made a dent on offense as well with 11 hits. Eggemeyer and Zach Hawkins ripped home runs for the Cougars. Hawkins led SIUE with three hits.

SIUE next faces Creighton in a noon contest Saturday in Conway.
