EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - South Dakota swept the season series Friday night with a 91-69 victory at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in men's college basketball action.
The Cougars, 3-20, continue the homestand Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. matchup against the University of North Dakota.
South Dakota, 13-9, was impressive from the field shooting 64.9 percent from the field. The Coyotes hit their first 11 shots from the field in the second half.
"We didn't force them out of their comfort zone," said SIUE Coach Lennox Forrester. South Dakota also shot 6 of 12 from three-point range.
Mark Yelovich led SIUE's offense with 22 points and a career-high five assists. Cody Rincker also turned in a career high in assists with six. Denykco Bowles and Nikola Bundalo also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
South Dakota's Tyler Cain led four players in double figures with 16 points. The senior also grabbed nine boards and blocked six shots. Louie Krogman pumped in 15 points for USD followed by 14 from Steve Smith and 11 from Mitchell Bouie.
