EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.- Rosaelia Loza scored with 12.4 second remaining in the first overtime period, giving UT Martin a 3-2 win over the SIUE Cougars in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Korte Stadium.

The loss is the first at home for SIUE, 5-2-1. After starting the year 5-0-1, the Cougars have dropped two straight. UT Martin improved to 4-4-1 with the victory.

"We don't want 5-0-1 to be a plateau to our season," SIUE Head Coach Derek Burton said.

UT Martin got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 16th minute. The Skyhawks' Jenni Duffy was able to poke a loose ball in from five yards away. The goal was the first of the year allowed by SIUE at Korte Stadium.

Brittany Bodziak answered for the Cougars in the 25th minute. Bodziak took a through ball from Jennifer Tucker and made a run through the middle of the box, before beating UT Martin goal keeper Lauren McKenzie to the right side of the goal. The goal was the second of Bodziak's season.

Kristen Dierker put SIUE on top with her second goal of the year in the 34th minute. Devon Thomas crossed a ball from the center of the field to Dierker who worked from just inside midfield around the left side. Dierker was able to split a pair of defenders before burying her second goal of the year to the far post to make it 2-1 Cougars.

SIUE took the 2-1 lead into the half.

Duffy struck again to equalize the game in the 63rd minute. Duffy got a loose ball straight away from the goal, 22 yards away. Duffy hit a low shot to the right to tie the game 2-2.

"To Martin's credit, they played extremely hard," Burton said. "They outworked us today."

UT Martin outshot the Cougars 16-15 during the game.

The Cougars are off until Sunday when they travel to play Central Arkansas in Conway, Ark.
