Box Score CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri State hit three home runs Friday en route to an 11-4 win over SIUE in the second game of a three-game Ohio Valley Conference baseball series at Capaha Field.

"We haven't been able to contain their offense," SIUE Head Coach Gary Collins said. "That last home run was really icing on the cake for them."
Brooks McDowell (3-5) suffered the loss for the Cougars. He surrendered six runs on seven hits through 3 1/3 innings. He struck out one. Thad Hawkins finished the game for SIUE, tossing the final 4 2/3 innings. Hawkins allowed five runs on four hits. He retired the last 10 batters he faced in the game.

Shae Simmons gave up all four runs over six innings. He struck out six and improved to 6-4 with the win.
The Cougars will try to avoid the sweep Saturday afternoon in the series finale. A win guarantees that SIUE would finish in the OVC's top 6, which would qualify for a spot in the tournament if the team was eligible.
"If we win tomorrow we'd be in the tournament," Collins said. "It's up to (the players) if they want to play for that. It's their season."
First pitch Saturday comes at 1 p.m.
