UPDATE: Kristen Torre and Kelsey Augustine were named to the All-Tournament team.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – SIUE evened its record to 3-3 Sunday with a four-set victory over Loyola in its final match of the Jessica Barkman Memorial Classic.

The Cougars dropped the first set but went on to win the next three straight sets in a 22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22 final.

Kelsey Augustine led the Cougars with a match-high 15 kills. She hit .375 for the match and led the Cougars with three blocks.

"She had two good matches back to back," said SIUE Head Coach Leah Johnson. "She was really good.

Johnson said Augustine avoided Loyola's blocks by changing her tactics throughout the match. "She never hit the same place twice," added Johnson.

Senior Brooke Smith turned in a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.

SIUE was faced with a tall Loyola squad that used its height advantage. The Ramblers, 5-2, finished with 13 blocks. Anna Eytchison paced the Ramblers with six blocks and a team-high 13 kills.

"They (Loyola) defended and blocked our outside hitters well," said Johnson. The Cougars adjusted in the second set by adjusted where setter Sammi Minton was placing balls for the outside hitters.

"We also served the ball very aggressive. We forced them into one-option passes and forced them to be predictable."

SIUE libero Chelsea Colclasure took over the team lead in service aces with seven after adding three against Loyola.

SIUE next heads to Akron, Ohio, for the Akron Invitational. The Cougars will take on host Akron, Youngstown State, and Binghamton next weekend.

"We need to continue to focus on consistency. It's about us being efficient," said Johnson.
