Box Score CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – SIUE women's soccer dropped a 2-0 match to Austin Peay Sunday.
The Cougars fall to 5-10-3 overall and 2-6-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play.
SIUE held the Governors scoreless in the first period with a great defensive effort from the Cougars.
"Cory Levels and Kassidy Rawdon had unbelievable games and we really great for us today," said Head Coach Derek Burton of the team's defenders.
"We came out and had a really good first half and played really well," added Burton. "We dictated the way the game was going."
Austin Peay scored in the 60th minute on a header from Shelby Olszewski off of a corner kick. Courtney Sheppard scored on the same play in the 63rd minute.
SIUE recorded six shots to Austin Peay's nine. Jennifer Pelley made four saves on the game.
"I'm proud of my team's effort and how hard they worked for each other," said Burton. "Obviously we are disappointed with the outcome, but some things are beyond your control and don't fall your way. We're looking to end the season on a high note Thursday."
SIUE travels to Eastern Illinois Thursday for their last match of the regular season. The match is at 3:00 p.m.
