Box Score CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri took care of its home court Saturday with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-20 victory over SIUE in Ohio Valley Conference volleyball action.
SIUE fell to 6-16 overall and 4-8 in the OVC with the loss at Houck Field House. Southeast improved to 10-15 and 6-6 in the OVC.
Kristen Torre led the Cougars with 10 kills while hitting a team-leading .333. Taylor Joens added nine. As a team, the Cougars hit .196.
"This match we tried to spread out our offense to create more one on ones for our hitters against a good blocking team," said SIUE Head Coach Leah Johnson.
Johnson noted the play of Taylor Joens, who led the Cougars for the weekend in digs with 26.
"I thought Taylor has been steady for us of late," said Johnson. "Her blocking game is coming along as well even though the statistics don't show it. She has had an effect at the net."
SIUE setter Mallory Mangun recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 29 assists and a team-leading 13 digs.
Southeast, which hit .309 as a team, were led by 16 kills from Krissa Gearring.
