EVANSVILLE, Ind. – SIUE women's tennis played a close match against the Evansville Purple Aces that resulted in a 4-3 loss for the Cougars.

The team started out strong in doubles play, earning the first point of the match. The duo of Sierra Halverson and Lexi Aranda recorded a win and improved their record in the spring season to 4-3. The pair of Haley Ilcewicz and Kali Donner improved to 2-0.

Aranda and Donner earned two more points for the Cougars in singles play in the No. 1 and No. 4 positions, respectively. Aranda improves to 6-2 and Donner improves to 3-1. Monique Krutak and Ilcewicz both took their opponents to three sets, but were not able to close out the victory.

"We need to regroup and get ready for Monday's match," said Head Coach Amanda Pratzel. "Everyone has a job to do to prepare for it."

The Cougars travel to SIU Carbondale Monday for a 5 p.m. match.
