Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE's Monique Krutak improved her singles winning streak to 11 matches Friday, but the Cougars were topped by the visiting Eastern Kentucky Colonels 4-3 at the SIUE Tennis Courts.
Krutak bested EKU's Marina Marti 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Mia Frogner also was a winner for the Cougars in singles with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 triumph over Kristina Labeja at No. 2 singles.
EKU, 13-7 overall and 8-1 in the OVC, came from behind after losing the doubles point to the Cougars. EKU's biggest win came at No. 1 singles when Amandine Faouzi defeated Lexi Aranda 4-6, 6-0, 7-6. It was Aranda's first loss in conference play and ended an eight-match winning streak.
"We lost a tough match today, but we can't dwell on it because we have to regroup for tomorrow," said SIUE Head Coach Amanda Pratzel.
SIUE's regular season finale is tomorrow at 2 p.m. against Morehead State. It will be the final home event for SIUE seniors Kali Donner, Haley Ilcewicz, and Lindsey Raymond.
