SIUE Draws Even with Tennessee Tech on Senior Night

Box Score

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's soccer looked to pick up points in the Ohio Valley Conference standings, and they did just that with a scoreless draw against Tennessee Tech.

"If you had told me it would finish 0-0 I wouldn't have bet against it," Head Coach Derek Burton said. "They haven't given up much all year and we're at home and doing well."

One of the best attacks of the night from SIUE came in the first half when Caroline Hoefert's shot hit off the crossbar. The Cougars put up five shots in the first half to only one by the Golden Eagles.

In the second half, play picked up a bit with multiple attacks from each team.

There was only three combined shots in both overtimes.

Peyton Roehnelt finished the game with three shots, all on goal. Hoefert recorded two shots on the night.

"We have started to come around since we started conference play," Burton added. "In general defensively we're doing well and understanding more. We have a lot of inexperience across the back line and they are starting to get it and it is nice to see."

The Cougars continue their home swing Sunday when they face off against Jacksonville State at 1 p.m.
